Research centers are large-scale cross-disciplinary research units established to address major research challenges in advanced energy and sustainability. They serve to:
- Broaden and deepen knowledge that leads to new discoveries and technical innovation;
- Translate research outputs into commercial opportunities;
- Educate and train students to create a knowledge intensive workforce for Abu Dhabi, the region and the world;
- Strategically involve industry and government to engage in exchanges of R&D, technical skills and know-how to advance competency in areas of joint interest.
Research conducted at each research center will be aligned with Masdar Institute’s research platform, which is aimed at developing integrated R&D capability within Technology, Policy and Systems domains.
Currently, research work is carried out through five Institute Centers (iCenters) and through four sponsored research centers. More sponsored research centers will be launched in the coming months.
