The Office of Public Affairs supports the primary objective of Masdar Institute, which is to provide and enhance the UAE’s human capital development through its focus on research, academic, outreach, and professional development and collaboration in the fields of advanced energy and sustainable technologies.The Office is responsible for communicating the Institute‘s objectives, vision and mission and promoting Masdar Institute by building relationships with local and international stakeholders and other activities. It also develops and oversees the implementation of strategies for the recruitment of high caliber students locally, regionally and internationally, and for outreach to the UAE community and local universities. Additionally, it is responsible for internal links with the Masdar Institute community as well as external constituencies.The Public Affairs Office’s functions are performed by the following departments – Student Enrollment, Marketing and Communications, and Outreach.

Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Public Affairs
 
Dr. Lamya Nawaf Fawwaz is the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Public Affairs at Masdar Institute of Science and Technology. Dr. Fawwaz was appointed to Masdar Institute in May 2009.
 
Prior to taking up her position at Masdar Institute, Dr. Fawwaz was Director of Operations and Strategy at the Sharjah American International School (SAIS), at both the Sharjah and Dubai campuses. Dr. Fawwaz has been on the board of the SAIS for five years, providing executive supervision and developing the strategy plan for the institution. She is also a member of the George Washington Alumni Association and a member of Alpha Iota Mu, the International Honor Society for Information Systems.

Dr. Fawwaz has a PhD in Higher Education Administration from George Washington University and an MSc in Information System Technology.
