Pre-Requisite Courses at MasdarMasdar Institute provides additional courses to talented graduate applicants who may not have the necessary GRE and TOEFL/IELTS requirements, but who are otherwise qualified to enroll as Master’s degree candidates and may be admitted to Masdar Institute to refresh and extend their knowledge of the principles that underlie the academic field of their choice, ahead of their studies in one of Masdar Institute’s nine Master’s degree programs.

In place of the GRE exam, those highly-qualified graduate applicants will be required to pass two placement exams or complete additional technical and math coursework, before they are allowed to proceed into the graduate degree program.

These additional courses consist of intensive courses, research projects and hands-on activities. Through these activities, these graduate students joining Masdar Institute programs are enabled to meet core degree course requirements and are prepared for two years of advanced studies in their chosen Master of Science (MSc) degree program.

Conditionally-Admitted Students

Talented graduate applicants who may not have the necessary GRE, but who are otherwise qualified to enroll as Master’s degree candidates, may be admitted to Masdar Institute as Conditionally-Admitted Students (CAS).

The decision of CAS admission will be made by the institute admissions committee based on the applicant’s qualifications and background in relation to the academic programs at Masdar Institute. CAS must take additional courses to refresh and extend their knowledge of the principles that underlie the academic field of their choice ahead of their studies in one of Masdar Institute’s nine Master’s degree programs. In place of the GRE, CAS will be required to pass two placement exams or complete additional technical and math coursework. These additional courses consist of intensive courses, research projects and hands-on activities.

In addition, all CAS have to take two technical foundation courses from the relevant MSc program or pass the corresponding placement exam for each course. These activities enable CAS to meet Masdar Institute’s university core course requirements and prepares them for two years of advanced studies in their chosen Master of Science (MSc) degree program. More details about the courses required for CAS are available on the individual website pages of each degree program, as well as in the Student Handbook, and Course Catalog.
